Drax Miniature

This is a heroclix miniature of Drax from Guardians of the Galaxy. I have a couple other sci-fi minis in 28mm lying around so I thought this was a good purchase. He would also work well as a modern day wrestler or cultist, and with a little suspension of disbelief he would work okay as an orc thief.

He looks a lot like the goliath race from 4e, so he could also work as one of them.

How To Make A Ten Room/"30 Minute" Dungeon In 2022

Image
What Is This? Way back in 2018 when I started my blog, the main thing I made were "30 minute dungeons". I made several posts on the subject and a couple that had tutorials on how to make them yourselves. The goal was to produce a relatively usable adventure, sans map/statistics, in only 30 minutes. I've moved past the "30 minute" aspect a bit, and what I usually do now is simply make a dungeon in about 10 minutes on a single sheet of notebook paper and then elaborate it later into something proper at my leisure. That is how I made my last two posts. What I aim to do in this post is to consolidate all of the information from my previous dungeon design posts into one big post here, for the convenience of everyone. For the convenience of everyone I will be referring to this concept as the Ten Room Dungeon for the rest of this article. I've recently tried out the OD&D style of art, that is to say heavily using a reference and adding slight changes. This gobl...

30 Minute Dungeons Are Back!

Image
That's right, its the moment at most 2 people have been waiting for, I am gonna start back up my 30 minute dungeon writing challenge. Every day (or at least almost every day), I will sit down for 30 minutes and write 10 rooms/encounters for a short mini dungeon. Just to recap, here are my general guidelines for what I make when writing one of these dungeons: A Hook General Background 3 Combat Encounters 3 "Empty" Rooms 2 Traps 1 NPC 1 Weird Thing To Experiment With Some Treasure A Magic Item No maps are generally included with this, as it is a writing challenge and not a cartography challenge, but I might go back and make some. I encourage anyone who feels stuck in a rut and doesn't know what to post to take up this challenge as well! At the very least you'll get some semi-usable encounters out of it which you can steal and put in other dungeons. And, like last time, if you have any requests for dungeons you would like to see, PLEASE  comment t...

30 Minute Dungeon Guide: Room Prompts

Image
Hey so you know how I made the 30 Minute Dungeon thing that blew up for a while? Well I've been working a little on refining it. For those of you who may be new to the blog, the 30 Minute Dungeon method is something I came up with where you set a timer for 30 minutes and make a 10 room dungeon, using the following checklist for what must be included: 3 Empty Rooms 3 Combat Encounters 2 Traps 1 NPC 1 Special/Weird Thing It took off and I compiled a collection of the dungeons I made, selling them in a pdf which got a justifiably mixed review by Skerples of Coins and Scrolls fame. A big problem I had with the formula is I kept being repetitive with how I designed the dungeons and how I would sometimes waste time getting stuck not knowing what to do for rooms. So I decided to come up with some prompts that help me come up with ideas for rooms without being too specific, ultimately coming up with 6 prompts for each room type, therefore allowing me to roll a d6 to randomly de...
